About Unboring
Unboring is a free, twice-weekly newsletter for small business owners, solopreneurs, startup founders and impact ventures. Each issue shows you what capital is open, who is deploying it, and how one type of funding works, with a link to every funder's own page.
Most owners hear about one kind of funding, usually a bank loan. But one business can often qualify for several kinds of capital at once: grants, programs, accelerators, SBA loans, revenue-based financing and more. We help you see all of it.

Is this for you?
Small business owners
Looking beyond the bank loan for working capital, equipment or growth.
Solopreneurs
Running lean and wondering which programs and grants are actually open to a business of one.
Startup founders
Mapping accelerators, funds and non-dilutive options before the next raise.
Impact ventures
Finding mission-aligned capital, from grants to patient and blended funding.
Why trust us
Unboring comes from about two decades of institutional finance: global banks, fund management and impact investing. We have sat on both sides of the table, as the investor reading the application and as the one deciding where the money goes. The research behind each issue is the same work we would do before putting capital to work, now aimed at helping you find and reach it.
Real deployment experience
We have run investment decisions at the fund level, including deploying capital across 16+ companies alongside 180+ investors, and we serve on boards and investment committees of impact ventures today.
Research behind the scenes
Before anything reaches you, we read the funder's own terms, check who is eligible, confirm deadlines and what the money can be used for, and note the catches that are easy to miss.
Plain-English access
Our job is to turn all of that into what you actually need: who the capital is for, how to reach it, and what to prepare, so you can decide in minutes whether it is worth your time.
What we do
Show what's open
Grants, programs and accelerators taking applications right now, plus the funds and lenders actively deploying.
Explain one capital type
Each issue breaks down one kind of funding in plain English, with a clear good for / not for line.
Send you to the source
Every item links to the funder's own page. We never ask you to take our word for the terms.
How we keep it honest
Sponsors, webinar hosts and partners are always labeled. Some links may be referral links, which means Unboring can be paid if you apply or sign up through them, at no cost to you. Payment never decides what we include or how we describe it. Check terms and eligibility on the funder's official page before you apply. Unboring provides information, not financial, legal or tax advice.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Unboring is free to read. It is supported by labeled sponsors and partners and by referral links, all disclosed above.
How often does it arrive?
We publish every Tuesday and Thursday. Each issue is short and easy to scan, so you can see what is open and decide quickly what is worth a closer look.
Does my business need to be a certain size or stage?
No. We cover options from a first-time solopreneur to a growing company. Every item says who it is good for and who it is not for.
How do you decide what to include?
We include what is real, current and relevant to owners like you. Sponsors cannot buy editorial coverage, and paid placements are always labeled.
Is this financial advice?
No. Unboring shares information and education, not financial, legal or tax advice. Always confirm terms with the funder and your own advisors.
What if I want to raise capital?
We can help. We will help you put together a financial readiness package so you are prepared for the questions funders ask, and we can connect you to warm introductions where it is a good fit. Introductions are not a guarantee of funding.
